All Competitions Currently Suspended

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and government mandated lockdown and restrictions on the playing of many sports, including golf, all of our scheduled competitions are currently suspended.
We are hopeful that we may get to hold some of our competitions as we progress through the summer and the government start to relax some of the restrictions that are currently in place.

HHDUGC – COVID-19 – Competitions Update

24/03/2020

Coronavirus

In these unprecedented and confusing times, the HHDUGC are trying to comply with statements from the Prime Minister, England Golf, YUGC and of course the needs of our Member Clubs.

We are now in a position to make some decisions regarding our Leagues and Competitions.

Firstly, the HHDUGC will cancel all competitions from now until the 3rd June 2020 when we will review the situation again.

League fixtures will be postponed during this period.
As the Junior and Academy Leagues commence on Friday 1st May and are due to complete on 26th June, it may be that these leagues are not contested during 2020.

A decision on this will be taken at a later date when the situation regarding resuming normal play becomes clearer.

The Scratch and Handicap leagues are also due to commence Thursday 21st May, so the same situation will apply.

The following competitions will not now take place in 2020: –

  • The 9 Hole Clubs Championship.
  • The Handicap Team Championship.
  • The Seniors Championship on the 2nd June

Please note that due to the Seniors Championship involving so many players that are in the vulnerable/at-risk category, we consider it would be irresponsible of us to allow this Competition to take place as scheduled.

Also, considering that the isolation period for vulnerable/at-risk people is 12 weeks, I don’t currently see any chance of playing this competition in 2020.

We will of course update you all as things progress and change, and I am certain you will all appreciate the importance of us making these restrictions.
