HHDUGC Competitions Update
Well, it’s been a long time coming but finally we are starting to see a light at the end of the covid-19 tunnel.
It isn’t all over yet as we can see with the Leicester lock down, but if we are all careful and follow the government guidelines regarding cleanliness and social distancing and England Golf’s safe golf guidelines we are on the right track.
I am sure all golf clubs are looking forward to getting your clubhouses open again on the 4th of July….it will indeed feel like Independence Day for golf!
As a Union we have cancelled quite a lot of the golf season due to covid-19 and even though golf courses have been open for some time, we decided not to even consider trying to run any competitions until the clubhouses re-opened.
At our video meeting last week we discussed which competitions might be possible to run, trying to give golfers of all levels of ability within the Union a fair crack of the whip.
We decided that we would not try to run any competitions in July to give golf clubs the time to get their clubhouses running properly again and allow time to get everything in place to meet current government guidelines for re-opening.
So the competitions we will be running in 2020 will cater for the Juniors, Handicap golfers, Scratch golfers, the 9 hole clubs and also our ever popular 4BBB.
Our competitions will commence on Sunday 9th August as follows….
Sunday 9th August 2020 :-
Junior Stroke Play Championship at Halifax Bradley Hall Golf Club 1st tee time 8 a.m.
Sunday 23rd August 2020 :-
Handicap Team Championship at Halifax Golf Club 1st tee time 7.30 a.m..
Sunday 30th August 2020 :-
4 BBB Championship at Dewsbury District Golf Club 1st tee time 7:30 a.m.
Sunday 6th or 13th September 2020 :-
9 Hole Clubs Championship at Ryburn Golf Club 1st tee time 8 a.m. Final date to be confirmed
Sunday 20th September 2020:-
Scratch Team Championship at Crosland Heath Golf Club 1st tee time 8 a. m.
